Activities, Games and Computer Room: The activities room is in the outbuilding that hosts daily residents’ activity planning meetings, together with various tasks and there are computers with internet access for residents to use for leisure, educational and work-related activities. Residents can also listen to music via the computer systems. The activities room is very large, and this space is also used to host seasonal activities, group sessions and parties.

Garden: The rear garden at ROXY AVENUE features significantly in the daily life of the Home during the warmer months and we encourage our residents to get involved in maintaining the garden. The garden is a lovely space where residents can simply have some quiet contemplation time and socialising with other residents.

Kitchen, Dining Room and Meals: Residents are given the option of cooking their own meals on a regular basis and providing they have undertaken basic food hygiene and food safety training, they can also cook for other residents. The dining room is also a place for residents and staff to meet, eat and relax.

Residents are included in the menu planning with the support staff which involves resident consultation meetings including one-to-one sessions with the Manager. As part of their recovery, residents are encouraged to cook for themselves at teatime. We have regular food preparation and cooking sessions to help support the residents who require some guidance and assistance. There is also the option for residents to cook their own breakfast most days.

Residents are given the option to gain the Basic Food Hygiene/Food Safety Certificate (and are encouraged to do so)

Clinic and Medication: We have a designated clinic/treatment room which is laid out to maximise the safe administration of medications. It also offers residents the privacy they will require when discussing medication issues with our staff team.

Medications plays a large part the health and wellbeing of residents. Residents are, where appropriate, risk assessed for their ability to self-medicate. Where self-medication is not possible, residents are supported to be as involved as possible in their medication taking process.

When a resident is self-medicating, their ability to do so is regularly reviewed and their medication support plan updated.

Medication on the premise is administer by our trained staff and staff are also trained in administering to take out medication (TTO). We have guidance and policy around this process. Staff are tested on their comprehension of the policy and the test results updated on their professional portfolio.
